True NM is a program created in 2021 between the New Mexico Asian Family Center and the New Mexico Black Leadership Council. True NM is antiracism, tricultural myth busting arts-based project to address true multiculturalism in New Mexico.
The program aims to empower Black and AAPINH youth to challenge the state’s tri-cultural myth through art and storytelling. Participants create self-portraits and narratives that reflect their identities and experiences, fostering cross-racial solidarity and anti-racist leadership.
