The Kuumba Creative Contest is a contest hosted by APS Office of Equity and Engagement with the purpose of highlighting the self expression of our students within APS through creation to showcase their cultures, communities, and experiences.

Who May Enter:

  • The contest is open to all Albuquerque Public Schools students in Elementary, Middle, and High School
  • First, second, and third place winners will be awarded in each division: Elementary, Middle, and High School

Submission Categories:

(Literature and Art) Poetry, essay, painting, sculpture, drawing. (Media Recording/Alternative Media) Instrumental demonstration, singing, rapping, additional content creation presentation. All submissions will be evaluated on how well they fit the criteria, clarity, effectiveness expressing the theme, and presence.
