Prepare to cast your vote in the 2022 New Mexico general election with the NMBLC voter registration guide.
The New Mexico general election is coming up November 8, 2022. If you haven’t yet handled your voter registration, now’s the time.
In the November 2022 election, New Mexicans will elect the next governor of the state.
A debate between gubernatorial candidates Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham and weather anchor Mark Ronchetti aired on KOB. You can watch it here. A second debate will air October 12 on KOAT and KKOB.
The race for the next attorney general and Bernalillo County sheriff is on the ballot as well. All 70 state House seats are up for election this year.
The New Mexico Black Voters Collaborative has spearheaded a coalition of organizations dedicated to getting youth and people of color to the polls for this election. With the rise of hate crimes, misinformation about elections, and the recent impact to reproductive health access, voting remains as important as ever.
Below, you’ll find information on registering to vote, requesting an absentee ballot, getting your sample ballot, and election deadlines.
You can register to vote by mail or online. You have until October 11, 2022 to register to vote this way.
To start the voter registration process, click here.
The New Mexico Black Leadership Council (NMBLC) has voter registration agents on site at the office. Call the NMBLC office to talk to an agent about registering to vote: (505) 407-6784.
If you miss the online or mail-in voter registration deadline, you can still use the same day voter registration option. For same day registration (SDR), you have to register in person at the same time you vote. SDR will be available at voting locations throughout early voting and on voting day.
Mail-in Ballot Voting
The last day to request an absentee ballot is November 3, 2022. With an absentee ballot you can mail in your ballot instead of going to the polls in person. To make sure you have plenty of time to fill out and return your absentee ballot, request it now. Absentee ballots will start getting mailed out on October 11, 2022.
