NMBLC Activities Table at NM Juneteenth 2023
Join the New Mexico Black Leadership Council for the NM Juneteenth 2023 celebration at Civic Plaza in Downtown Albuquerque. NMBLC will have a table on Saturday, June 17, 2023, from Noon-7pm. Besides food sample and drink giveaways, we’ll have activities for each of our UpLift Initiative focus areas.
Health, Wellness, Vaccine Confidence
Ask a Doctor: NMBLC Board member Dr. Duane Ross and Dr. Sheldon Jordan are here to answer your questions about general health and vaccines.
Free massage: Sign up for a free massage between 2-7pm with Sue Mumsford of Cheyenne Wellness.
Voter Registration and Housing: Register to vote, take the original “Black” voter’s quiz, and talk to our in house attorney Jack Champagne about what’s on the ballot and what’s happening in housing legislation.
Affordable Connectivity Program: See if you qualify and sign up for free or low cost internet.
Youth Development: Sign your kids up for the Roots Summer Leadership Academy happening July 9 — July 28, 2023. Spark a little joy with mask making, book giveaways, bubble machines, and trampolines.
Cultural Vibrancy: Play (or learn to play for the first time) Spades, Bid Whist, and Dominoes.
Workforce Development: Last but not least, visit all of our stations, stamp your “passport” and enter the drawing for a free laptop valued at $600. Drawings are at 3:30pm and 5:30pm.
We’ll see you there!

Juneteenth Black Embodied Healing Space
FREE Juneteenth Black Embodied Healing Space at Juneteenth! This space is intentionally curated for Black bodies where women, femmes, QT Black bodied, and disabled folx are centered.
During the 5-hour embodied space, somatic treatments will be offered and supportive dialogue fostered. We know the importance of our Black youth to have safe(r) healing space(s), but for this particular event, participants must be 18 years (by June 17th) and older. Participants will receive “love bundles” for body, mind and spirit. Space is limited to 15 folx; therefore, registration is first come, first serve. We encourage you to register early!
