New Mexico Black Lawyers Association Present: Black History is American History – CLE Event

The New Mexico Black Lawyers Association, along with the City of Albuquerque’s Office of Civil Rights and Region X of the National Bar Association, will host a virtual afternoon of CLEs in celebration of Black History Month. The CLEs will take place virtually on February 18, 2022 from 1 PM until 4 PM:

1-2 PM: Critical Race Theory (1.0 General Credit), by Giovianna Burrell (Culture Change Leader, City of Albuquerque, Office of Equity and Inclusion), Vinay Harpalani (Henry Weihofen Professor and Associate Professor of Law, UNM School of Law), and Dean Alfred Mathewson (Former Dean, UNM School of Law)

2-3 PM: Perspectives on Practice: Black Women Attorneys in the Southwest (1.0 Ethics/Professionalism Credit), panel discussion by the Honorable Shauna Graves-Robertson (Region X Director, National Bar Association; Judge, Salt Lake County Justice Court), Ret. Judge Angela Jewell (Pro Tem Judge, Second Judicial District Court), Jazzai Jimerson, Esq. (Law Clerk, New Mexico Court of Appeals), and Dominique Oliver, Esq. (Attorney, Lewis Brisbois Bisgaard & Smith LLP)

3-4 PM: Perspectives on Practice: Black Male Attorneys in the Southwest (1.0 Ethics/Professionalism Credit), panel discussion by Dean Alfred Mathewson (Former Dean, UNM School of Law), Frank Davis, Esq. (Attorney, Freedman, Boyd, Hollander, Goldberg, Urias & Ward PA), and O. Nathanael Banks, Esq. (Attorney, Law Offices of the Public Defender)

Registration is $75 for attorneys seeking CLE credit. There is a discounted registration of $45 for NMBLA members, co-sponsors, government attorneys, attorneys not seeking CLE credit, and paralegals. Community members can join for free, but must RSVP using the community member registration option below. The deadline to request a refund is February 11, 2022.
