We played it from the soul.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to Bowe, Albuquerque is \u201ca great ground to get your feet wet.\u201d Artists and listeners both benefit from jazz jams around town. Bowe, who teaches a class to prepare adult students to play in a jazz jam, says, \u201cA jazz jam is open. It\u2019s open to the public and, at the same time, it\u2019s open to a novice as well as a master.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Some of Bowe\u2019s favorite local, regular jams include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"\"><\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/BenMichaelsRestaurant\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Ben Michael\u2019s Restaurant<\/a> on Tuesday nights from 7 to 10pm: 2404 Pueblo Bonito Ct NW, in Old Town\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/KaktusKatsBluesJam\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaktus Kats Blues Jam<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kaktusbrewery.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kaktus Brewing Co.<\/a>, Sundays from 2 to 5pm (check Facebook for rotating guest hosts): 471 South Hill Rd in Bernalillo\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none;\">\n<ul class=\"\">\n<li class=\"\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hotelabq.com\/eat_drink\/qbar\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">QBar Lounge<\/a> at Hotel Albuquerque with saxophonist Alex Murzyn and pianist John Funkhouser, Fridays and Saturdays 6 to 10pm: 800 Rio Grande Blvd NW, in Old Town\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Outpost Performance Space, located at 210 Yale Blvd SE, is a gem. Outpost hosts a jazz festival each summer, jazz shows throughout the year (like Diane Richardson\u2019s Ella Fitzgerald tribute on April 18), and educational jazz programming. Check out their schedule at <a href=\"https:\/\/outpostspace.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">outpostspace.org<\/a>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For jazz in your own home, don\u2019t miss the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kunm.org\/show\/all-that-jazz\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">All That Jazz<\/a>\u201d radio show on KUNM 89.9 FM at noon on Mondays.
