This approach is about elevating and utilizing our strengths and assets rather than focusing on supposed lack and deficiency. NMBLC\u2019s<a href=\"https:\/\/nmblc.org\/chisholm-table\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\"> Chisholm Table<\/a> initiative exemplifies this philosophy. The <a href=\"https:\/\/nmblc.org\/chisholm-table\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Chisholm Table<\/a> is a component of our collective impact organizing strategy and communications infrastructure network. It\u2019s designed to build operational capacity among Black, volunteer-led organizations. One way to support these organizations is through funding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-pullquote\"><blockquote><p>\u201cIf they don\u2019t give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair.\u201d<\/p><cite>\u2014Shirley Chisholm<\/cite><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">NMBLC is launching the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nmblc.org\/uplift\/\" target=\"_blank\">UpLift program<\/a>, funded by a grant from the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH). Under the <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nmblc.org\/uplift\/\" target=\"_blank\">UpLift program<\/a>, NMBLC and partners have created a one-stop resource hub to provide help, resources, and information for the community. As part of the UpLift grant to support long-term resiliency, NMBLC received monies to award microgrants to New Mexican groups serving Black communities. Utilizing these funds to fulfill a phase of the Chisholm Table project, NMBLC awarded microgrants of $20,000 each to five Black volunteer-led organizations in New Mexico:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><a href=\"https:\/\/omegapsiphiabq.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Nu Rho chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/newmexicoblacklawyersassociation.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">New Mexico Black Lawyers Association<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/afro.unm.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">UNM African American Student Services<\/a><\/li><li>Beyond the Chair Initiative<\/li><li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ABQBLESS\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Albuquerque Black Economic Security and Solidarity (BLESS)<\/a><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">With these grants, the organizations can focus on and bolster their efforts in line with their mission. This can be anything from recruitment and retention, public relations, technology upgrades, and outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Check out the<a
