Alfondso's Story

My Covid19 Journey Disclaimer: I was Unvaccinated.

It was almost 6 weeks ago I went to the doctor with a cough that was persistent for 2 months prior, thought it was just allergies. All the while my lungs were unknowingly slowly being damaged.

On August 18 I went to a Presbyterian Now urgent care to see what was going on because I couldn’t take it anymore, after being tested for Covid19–the test indeed came back positive for Covid19 Delta Variant/Pneumonia. I was given No antibiotics, nothing…..

I went home with a persistent cough and the symptoms began to get worse, the next day August 19th I returned to a different hospital, this time Lovelace thinking the experience would be different—again I was examined however because my Sp02 was still above 90 I was told there’s nothing they could do. Well, day 3 August 20 the symptoms became extremely worse so again returned back to Presbyterian hospital with the same results. I was told to purchase a pulse oximeter, and if my Sp02 goes below 90 to call 911.

Day one, two and three was the worst for me being alive however having the hardest time breathing. Day 5 I thought the tide was turning and tried to get out the bed to use the restroom and that’s when it happened; I began to go into cardiac arrest (Code Blue) and was out. When I came to…I was surrounded by several nurses and doctors who then explained the story. They had to bring me back to (life).

I didn’t tell my family this part at the time because I knew it would break them.

I am a believer and those first few days I must admit really shook my Faith. Fear tried to find a home in my mind, being at the hospital all alone and no one could visit me however thanks to the family I was raised in and the body of believers that surrounded them and myself they began to bombard heaven with prayers for my healing. That woke my spirits and I also (not being able to really speak) started to pray like only I know how. My confidence and will to fight became stronger.

My experience taught me sometimes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Needless to say it’s better to be safe than sorry.

It took nothing else to convince me that the vaccine is a must for me.

9 days later I was released and started the healing process.

Thanks to all the amazing nurses  and incredible doctors who treated me first class. Thanks also to all those who reached heaven on my behalf. There’s no words that can really express my gratitude however I know that I’m extremely grateful for your love and compassion and will never forget.

So many were not as fortunate as I was to walk away with their life, and for that reason I will continue to pray for those who lost loved ones and for those who are experiencing this plague.
