NM Juneteenth Celebration
Save the date for New Mexico’s premier Juneteenth event! Celebrate Black-owned businesses, artisans, vendors, performers, and more! Rain or shine!

This year’s Juneteenth event will include speakers, national and local musical acts, a youth fashion empowerment show, a COVID-19 vaccination clinic, food, and lots of dancing. The entire event will be family friendly and will follow current COVID safeguards. Other highlights include:
- Black Wall Street (local entrepreneurs sharing financial literacy)
- Soul Food Alley
- A Kid’s Corner
- Black Excellence Avenue (featuring a curated art show)

Hobbs – MLK Day of Giving 2021

The NAACP, City of Hobbs, United Way of Lea County, Hobbs Municipal Schools, Hobbs Headstart, Hobbs Hispano Chamber of Commerce, Hobbs Chamber of Commerce, WHI Hobbs, Cissy’s Food Ministry, Lea County Beef Project, The Salvation Army, Pacific Rim and Domino’s Pizza have all teamed up to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr by a Day of Giving.

Monday, January 18, 2021 these organizations will come together to give back to the community from 12-2pm at MLK Soccerplex located at 1320 S. Dal Paso. To help celebrate the dream of unity by MLK, we invite everyone to come experience the unity of Hobbs as we hand out food; hot meals and/or food boxes, as well as collecting coats for re-distribution and handing out what we currently have collected.

CABQ Office of Equity & Inclusion Opinion Surveys

The CABQ Office of Equity & Inclusion is conducting opinion surveys with Albuquerque’s African-American community. This survey seeks to identify priorities from the community and learn how to better engage.

The survey conducted by Scott Carreathers, African American Community and Business Liaison, collects demographic information from African American community members and will be used to assess how different segments of the community see and engage with their City government.

The data collected from the survey will be compiled into a report to illustrate the needs identified and how engagement with the community by the City of Albuquerque can be improved. There are two surveys, one for youth and one for adults.

A reminder these surveys are intended for African American respondents. These surveys are being collected by Scott Carreathers, African American Community & Business Liaison with the City of Albuquerque, until January 15.
