Focus on Youth Juried Student Photography Exhibit Reception
Focus on Youth includes nearly 100 photographs and short films, including silver print, digital, and special techniques in photography, art books, and digital film. This juried student exhibition of high school photographers and filmmakers is jointly sponsored by Albuquerque Public Schools Fine Arts and Albuquerque Museum. Reception from 1:00 to 3:00; awards given at 2:00. The exhibit will be viewable until June 1.

AfroMundo Festival: Changing the Narrative
Join AfroMundo in NHCC’s Wells Fargo Theater for presentations by Haitian American poet Patrick Sylvain, Afro-Cuban filmmaker Aida Esther Bueno Sarduy, and Egyptian Palestinian American author, filmmaker, and actor Randa Jarrar. Q&A to follow.

AfroMundo Festival: We Will Not Perish
The documentary “Ayiti Pap Peri: Ayiti Will Not Perish” shines a spotlight on Haitian expatriates returning to Haiti (Ayiti), despite many challenges, to work on behalf of their country.
The film screening will be followed by one of AfroMundo’s acclaimed panel discussions and Q&A. Panelists include the documentary’s director and journalist Cassandre Thrasybule, Haitian American author Patrick Sylvain, Afro Cuban artist and actress Lili Bernard, and documentarist Aida Esther Bueno Sarduy.

Ain’t No Back to a Merry-Go-Round: An Untold Civil Rights Story
In 1960 Maryland, Black (from Howard University) and Jewish protesters marched together for weeks against a whites-only amusement park, despite vicious counter-protests from the American Nazi Party. A harbinger of the nascent Sit-Down movement, the protests saw the births of some future civil-rights giants. This film uses recently unearthed footage to tell this little-known civil rights story.

Killers of the Flower Moon screening with Candice Costello
Enjoy this special collaboration between the San Pedro and International District Libraries! San Pedro Library hosts a showing of Killers of the Flower Moon ID Library theatre-style! The film recounts the events surrounding a serious of mysterious homicides in Osage Nation after the discovery of oil in their land in the 1920s. A Q&A discussion with actress Candice Costello will follow.
NOTE: You will need to present an ID for entrance to this Rated R movie.
Candice Costello is a Navajo actress who grew up in To’Hajiilee, NM. She will be available to answer questions about playing the role of Catherine Cole.

“It’s Basic” Screening: Guaranteed Income Works National Tour
Learn about basic income (also called guaranteed income) with this film directed by Emmy award-winning director Marc Levin. This new documentary introduces viewers to guaranteed income pilot programs led by Mayors for a Guaranteed Income, and their participants.
Immediately following, there will be a panel discussion about the movement to fight poverty in Albuquerque with guaranteed income initiatives, featuring community leaders and guaranteed income recipients.
