    Juneteenth Freedom Flow: Yoga in the Park

    “Juneteenth Freedom Flow” is a special outdoor yoga class celebrating Juneteenth, designed to honor the spirit of freedom, resilience, and unity. The class is open to all levels, so whether you are a seasoned yogi or a beginner, please join in!

     

    The class will take place on the southeast side of Academy Hills Park, under the shade. Free, but donations encouraged. At the end of the session, refresh and rejuvenate with infused cold eye towels (available while supplies last).

    Zeta Phi Beta Environmental Justice Yoga

    Choose your yoga session with Reina Carson: 1:00 – 1:30 or 1:30 – 2:00. Class is beginner-friendly, and yoga mats and water will be provided. Just bring yourself and comfortable clothes!

     

    The classes are part of Valle del Oro’s Environmental Justice Day from 11 am to 2 pm.

     

    Zeta says: “Why this matters: Emphasizing reciprocity between land and people, this yoga promotes mindfulness and sustainable lifestyles, inspiring individuals to advocate for environmental justice and awareness. Yoga, which is of South Asian origin, also provides numerous health benefits to mitigate the health disparities seen in our communities. We have disproportionate exposure to environmental hazards and increased vulnerability to climate change impacts. Recognizing the importance of Black land relations is crucial for addressing systemic inequalities and promoting environmental justice within our communities. In her book she offers guidance and activities toward Self-Remembrance: a journey to discover our inherent wisdom, beauty, and power.

    Melanated Yoga Mental Health Awareness Session

    Welcome to a special Melanated Yoga experience – a virtual yoga session for Mental Health Awareness Month! Join BLK Directory Inc. and yoga teacher Jenna Walker on May 21st for this free online event to give Black people a space to release stress, tension, and anxiety. Grab your yoga mat and find a comfortable space in your home. The session will be beginner-friendly and all levels are welcome. 1pm Mountain Time.

    This class is a 45 min-1hr practice to help set the foundation for consistent yoga practice. First, we will practice breathing techniques to help ease the mind and calm the body. Our flow will focus on building strength, flexibility, and awareness with some foundation yoga poses.
