  • River Cleanup Day

    River Cleanup Day

Celebrate the National River Cleanup in the Bosque! Meet in the dirt parking lot on the north side of Central, just west of the river (map) to enjoy morning snacks – then head out to pick up trash along the shoreline and trails. There will be raffles and a prize for the WEIRDEST piece of trash!

Wear sturdy footwear and bring work gloves, water, sunglasses, and sunscreen, and a hat if you’ve got one! Parking is very limited, so please carpool (or bike!) if you can.

To sign up, visit One Albuquerque Volunteers or contact Volunteer Program Coordinator Jenny Blackmore at jblackmore@cabq.gov or 505-768-3072.

  • FREE Zeta Day at Sevilleta Nat’l Wildlife Refuge

FREE Zeta Day at Sevilleta Nat’l Wildlife Refuge

Come along with Zeta for a FREE day trip to the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge! On Friday, June 9th from 8AM-6PM, we’ll tour the Sevilleta Long Term Ecological Science Experiments, do activities with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Rangers, and learn about plant collections!

Transportation and lunch are provided – all for free! High school students are preferred, with some space available for parents to join. Register using this link. Space is limited, so grab your spot today! Pickup and drop off is at Highland Pool, located at 400 Jackson St SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Vans will depart at 8 AM and return at 6 PM. There is space for 45 attendees.

“PearlZ in the Wild” mobilizes Zeta women and Zeta affiliates to engage in healthy outdoor activities at USFWS National Refuges under the “Zetas Have Heart- Zeta Days at The Refuge” Program. National park visitorship is severely skewed, and Black folks are most underrepresented. This reflects Jim Crow policies and violence often inflicted on Black people in outdoor spaces, rather than a lack of cultural engagement with the natural world. Zeta aims to reclaim these spaces and illuminate the scientific, naturalist, and healthy opportunities provided through national wildlife refuges. Join us!
