Are You Ready to Walk Your Talk?
The New Mexico Black Leadership Council (NMBLC) invites everyone in the International District–and all Burqueños–to our inaugural Pamoja 5k Race for Equity. “Pamoja” is Swahili for “better together,” which is how we work to impact the communities around us. The race runs through the heart of the most diverse neighborhood in the city and brings people together to focus on shared goals and community resiliency.
Race Times
9:00 am: 5k run.
9:45 am: 1mi community walk/run.
10:15 am: The kids 1k walk/run.
Kids 1k & 1 Mile Community Walk
The Race for Equity is free and will happen rain-or-shine. The Pamoja 5k Race for Equity is a family-oriented event encouraging children and seniors to participate as well as more experienced runners. In addition to the 5k race, there will be a one-mile community walk and a special 1k lap for kids/seniors to compete in. Sponsors and community organizations will be in attendance, providing snacks, refreshments, and information on additional upcoming events. Whatever your running experience, age, or speed, Pamoja has a place for you.
NMBLC UpLift Initiative
The NMBLC’s UpLift Initiative is a community-focused campaign offering an online, one-stop portal for access to COVID-19 vaccine information, rental assistance, workforce information, and voter registration. UpLift also directly engages our International District neighbors and residents across the city by linking individuals and families with community organizations and civic bodies. We don’t define “community” as solely geographic; we are One Albuquerque and we are better together. Join us!
