1st Annual Healing and Hip-Hop Summit (Hosted by: KK, Montse, P-Love, Soula & marc Boogie Event)

Welcome to New Mexico’s 1st Annual Healing & Hip Hop Summit!!!

The first annual Healing and Hip Hop Summit is an event designed by a group of local Albuquerque hip hop community members. We began our work by talking about our hip-hop scene and some of the historical issues we and members within our scene have experienced. Our community has suffered a lot of loss due to deep-rooted cyclical community issues; substance abuse, domestic violence, chronic health issues, DUI, mental health, and more. We realized that many members of our community could benefit from awareness and resources within the community. Albuquerque has a thriving non-profit community, so we decided to braid our hip hop and our non-profit scenes together. The result: The Healing and Hip Hop Summit- an event to allow for local dancers to battle for a cause, and support a non-profit organization. The money raised from the event will go directly to support a non-profit organization in our community.

We hope this event will inspire and spark change within the youth in our scene and community. This will hopefully light a path of positive productive community involvement with youth in our community. This event and campaign will allow our group to fund one young person each year with an art scholarship to pursue their artistic dreams and the next steps in their artistic careers.

What We Need & What You Get

We are looking for supporters that believe in the power of hip hop to heal and uplift people and create space to learn new and healthy ways to live.

• $5.00 – $10.00 suggested donation at the door (our donations will support a local Albuquerque non-profit organization)
• A young aspiring artist within the Albuquerque community
• An event creating awareness and resources for various community issues

The Impact

We hope this is the first of many Healing and Hip Hop Summits for our city. Our contribution will allow for this event to be sustainable for years to come.
