This end-of camp showcase features a live student performance, a showcase of their camp activities, an awards ceremony, and lunch – all to celebrate what they’ve accomplished together this summer. (Harambee is Swahili for “all pull together.”)

Roots Camp Harambee!
Join us at the rollicking Harambee Celebration, where the students of Roots Academy share their talents and all they’ve learned! This end-of camp showcase features a live student performance, a showcase of their camp activities, an awards ceremony, and lunch – all to celebrate what they’ve accomplished together this summer. Free summer fun (and a little learning!) at Olive Tree Compounding Pharmacy in Rio Rancho. Kids will spend the morning as Compounding Pharmacists, and take home kid-friendly products they made themselves – flavored troches and healing hand cream.
Space is VERY limited, and you must REGISTER HERE by July 12!

Free Sports Physicals for Kids
FREE sports physicals to the first 125 children in need, provided by the Somos Unidos Foundation and Duke City Cares! To make it fun for the whole family, there will also be games and giveaways.

Celebrating James Baldwin’s 100th Birthday
In honor of James Baldwin’s 100th birthday, a panel at the National Museum of African American History and Culture will explore his legacy and influence on modern writers in theater and film. Panel includes: Suzan-Lori Parks, Tarell Alvin McCraney, and NMAAHC Museum Specialist Tulani Salahu-Din. Moderated by writer, activist, and scholar Darnell L. Moore.
